Popular Problems now on Freegal

Folk Rock singer and Rock and Roll hall of famer Leonard Cohen is perhaps best known to wider audiences for his songs “Hallelujah” and “Bird on A Wire”, both of which have been covered by multiple artists. Jeff Buckley may have had he most notable success with Hallelujah. The tune is known to even the youngest generations thanks to the animated blockbuster movie “Shrek”. Cohen has been influencing fellow musicians for decades and now the recent Octogenarian is celebrating the big 8-0 by releasing a new LP entitled “Popular Problems” and by lighting a cigarette. According to an article in the The New York Times  which references Cohen, the singer states that “80 is the right age to commence (smoking)”.  Although there may be arguments about his smoking comment, he is clearly at the perfect age for creating new music. About the new album, National Public Radio writes “…the music creates space for reflection that expands with each listen…The singer’s charisma is in fine form as he shares reflections on how widely shared external events -popular problems- temper the spirit like heat on a cast iron”.  The Guardian calls it “..satisfying...full of surprises.”

It is available now on Freegal Music.

New Music

What’s new on Freegal? A lot actually, but in the interest of narrowing it down, here are just a couple of highlights…

After a 7 year break, artist Hilary Duff just released a new single this week entitled “Chasing The Sun”.
