'Thriller' becomes the first album to sell 30 million copies in the U.S.

According to the Recording Industry Association of America, Michael Jackson just set a new U.S. sales record of 30 million for 'Thriller'. It is the first record in the history of U.S. album sales to reach that number. The LP was originally released in November of 1982 and it spent the subsequent 37 weeks in the number one spot.


The King of Pop also continues his reign as the best- selling artist of all time per Billboard. With sales of over 100 million worldwide, 'Thriller' is the top selling album in history, worldwide. The album, along with more music from Michael Jackson, is available on the Freegal site with your library card.

December 12th marks what would have been the 100th birthday of  Ol' Blue Eyes. Did you know that he has won thirteen Grammy Awards, three Oscars and three Golden Globes? Rolling Stone also declared him the "the 20th century's greatest singer of popular song." He has had countless hits and his music remains popular with innumerable fans of all ages.
