It’s always fun to find music from budding artists before they become too insanely popular. Soul singer Leon Bridges is most likely on the cusp of real fame. Mr. Bridges signed his first record deal this past December and today Billboard proclaims him “ The throw back soul star-to-be who won SXSW”. The annual SXSW festival in Texas that just wrapped up yesterday is one of the largest music festivals in the world. It is an opportunity for new musicians to show their talent in front of vast crowds, media, and record company executives. With regards to the singer’s performance at the festival Billboard writes “he was one of a handful of acts that everyone you talked to was either blown away by or was crestfallen they had missed.” He has received praise from The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and many more. With regards to his rise to fame The Guardian writes, “ eighteen months ago he was washing dishes in a Texas restaurant, and four months ago 40 record labels showed interest in him”.
Mr. Bridges recently released single “Lisa Sawyer” as well as his debut EP “Coming Home” are available on the Freegal Music database.
